Terms of Service
The terms, in plain English.
These are Steero’s interim terms of service. They describe how the platform actually works today and apply to your use of it now. STEERO is operated by WHD Ltd, trading as Steero. We review and update these terms as the business grows. WHD Ltd is a private limited company registered in England and Wales under company number 16727626, with its registered office at 45 Sutherland Grove, London, SW18 5QP.
1. What STEERO is
STEERO is a booking and payments platform for driving instructors in the United Kingdom, both fully qualified Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs) and trainee instructors on a valid DVSA trainee licence (PDIs). We connect instructors with pupils, take card payment upfront, and pay instructors out. We are not a driving school and we do not employ instructors; you remain self-employed and in control of your lessons, prices and diary.
2. Eligibility
To offer lessons through STEERO you must hold a current DVSA instructor badge, an ADI green badge or a PDI trainee licence, and keep it valid. We verify your badge number against the DVSA register when you sign up and periodically afterwards. If your registration lapses or your trainee licence expires, we may suspend your page until it is restored.
3. Fees and commission
- A flat platform fee of £12 per month, charged in advance. You can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the paid month.
- Commission of 1.5% on lessons you book with your own pupils through STEERO.
- Terms for pupils that STEERO introduces to you are shown in your dashboard before you accept any introduction. You are never charged an introduction fee without seeing it first.
4. Payments, payouts and no-shows
Every booking is authorised on the pupil’s card at the time it is made. Lessons are paid out to your nominated account the day after the lesson takes place. Your own cancellation policy is enforced automatically against the card on file: if a pupil cancels late or does not attend, the fee you set is charged and paid out to you.
5. Refunds
Where a refund is due under your policy or by law, the pupil is refunded in full, including the STEERO commission on that lesson. We do not keep our cut on money that is returned.
6. Safeguarding
Pupils under 18 may only book with verified guardian consent. Contact details between instructor and pupil are masked through the platform. You agree to follow our safeguarding policy and to complete any checks we reasonably require.
7. Your records
STEERO keeps a record of your lessons and payouts that you can export at any time in an MTD-ready format for HMRC. You are responsible for your own tax affairs.
8. Ending your use of STEERO
You can close your account at any time from settings and export your data on the way out. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, loses its DVSA instructor registration, or puts pupils at risk.
9. Our responsibility to you
We work hard to keep STEERO running, secure and accurate, but we cannot promise the service will never be interrupted. We are responsible for losses we cause by breaking these terms or by failing to use reasonable care. We are not responsible for the driving tuition itself, which is delivered by the instructor, nor for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the platform grows or the law changes. If we make a significant change, we will let you know in advance. Continuing to use STEERO after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales.
