Instructor Agreement
The instructor agreement, in plain English.
This is Steero’s interim instructor agreement, between WHD Ltd, trading as Steero, and the instructor who registers an account. We review and update this agreement as the business grows. By creating an instructor account you agree to these terms.
1. What Steero is, and your status
Steero is a booking and payments platform. You use it to take bookings from your own pupils and to be paid. Steero is not a driving school, does not employ you, does not supply a car, and does not deliver lessons. You are self-employed and remain in control of your prices, availability, pupils and how you teach.
2. Eligibility and verification
You must hold a current DVSA instructor registration, an ADI green badge or a PDI trainee licence, and keep it valid. We verify your badge number against the DVSA register at sign-up and from time to time afterwards. If your registration lapses or your trainee licence expires, we may suspend your page until it is restored. You confirm you hold a valid enhanced DBS as required for DVSA registration.
3. Your responsibilities
- Deliver lessons you accept, safely and lawfully, in a roadworthy, properly insured dual-control vehicle.
- Hold your own instructor insurance and any other cover the law requires. We may ask you to confirm this.
- Follow the DVSA ADI code of conduct, our Safeguarding and Under-18 Policy, and our Cancellation and Refund Policy.
- Set accurate prices and lesson details, and honour bookings pupils make and pay for.
- Handle your pupils’ personal data responsibly and in line with the Privacy notice.
4. Payments, fees and tax
- Pupils pay by card upfront through Stripe. Each instructor has their own Stripe connected account, and the lesson money is settled to it, typically the next working day after the lesson.
- Steero charges a flat £12 per month platform fee and 1.5% commission on lessons with your own pupils. Fees are disclosed in your dashboard.
- What Steero charges for a pupil it introduces to you, if any, is shown to you before you accept that introduction.
- You are responsible for your own tax affairs (self-assessment, and VAT if applicable). Steero does not deduct tax.
5. Cancellations, safeguarding and liability
Our Cancellation and Refund Policy applies to bookings on the platform. You must follow our Safeguarding and Under-18 Policy; in particular, under-18 pupils require guardian consent, which during the current pilot you are responsible for obtaining and recording. You are responsible for the tuition you deliver and its safety, and you agree to indemnify Steero against claims arising from your acts or omissions, or your registration or insurance lapsing. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
6. Ending the agreement
You can close your account at any time and export your records. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, loses its DVSA registration, or puts pupils at risk.
7. Governing law
This agreement is governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales.
